Georgia Crafted

Hello fellow peaches, this post is MADE for you. No, really it is! Have you heard of Georgia Crafted? 

Until recently, I had not and I'm thrilled to share it with you here. They're a monthly subscription service  which consists of 4-5 carefully curated full-sized products made by Georgia artisans and delivered directly to your front door.  Items can range from food, candles, music, teas, art, stationary, bath and body products and more. I love the idea of this because as much as I would LOVE to hit the farmers markets every weekend to support local artisans and discover new products, my schedule just doesn't allow it. And knowing that Georgia Crafted only selects the best of the best assures me that my box is going to brimming with peach-state goodness. 

Each box also includes detailed description on the products and it's maker which is always fun to read about.  You can also choose from different subscriptions which makes it perfect for gifting. How fun would this be to gift to a new neighbor or that person who already has everything?

My January box just happened to be all food products which y'all know I love but I'm looking forward to what else Georgia Crafted sends my way. Want to know the best way to unite a group of people?  You gather them.  You cook for them.  You feed them.  Everyone's happy.  See how easy that is?  

The Junior League of Gwinnett and North Fulton Counties here in Georgia asked me to review their cookbook "At Your Service" and I'm thrilled to share it with you today.  First let me say, this book is full of southern recipes that are tried and true.  The ones our grandmothers loved and kept on scratch paper or better yet, in their heads.  There's something so comforting about these traditional recipes that continually show up at celebrations, holidays and family gatherings.  

In addition to these recipes, the book also contains helpful hints like "the difference between a bundt pan and a tube pan" and "how to make a bread bowl."  It also provides suggestions for stocking your pantry, quick fix appetizers and menu ideas for events like tailgating or a garden brunch.  "At Your Service" is certainly a southern classic that would be a great addition to any cookbook collection.   

To top it all off, "At Your Service" is a hardback cookbook with a gorgeous watercolor cover by Georgia artist, Elaine Jackson.  This book would be a lovely hostess gift or a Christmas gift and can easily be purchased here.  It's currently in its second printing and won't be available forever so hurry over to grab your copy now.  All proceeds help fund local community projects of the Junior League of Gwinnett and North Fulton Counties!

Georgia Peaches

It's peach season here in Georgia, which is home to forty varieties of the sweet, succulent fruit!  I was overwhelmed with their aroma as I entered the grocery store a few days ago so of course I grabbed a bag to take home with me.  Growing up, my Grandma used to refer to my sisters and I as her "Georgia Peaches" hence the inspiration for the name of this blog.  Since her passing a few years ago,  I can't look at a peach without thinking about her sweet smile or the way her eyes would light up when she laughed.

If you're near central Georgia, you can tour any of the three main orchards in Georgia,  Pearson Farms, Dickey Farms, or Lane Southern Orchards.  This is something I plan to do next summer when the kids are little older!

Today I made homemade vanilla ice cream with my oldest son Luke.  What's the perfect accompaniment?  You guessed it.  Some fresh sliced Georgia peaches.

Simple vanilla ice cream

2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 cup whole milk
3/4 sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract


Mix all ingredients and pour into a Cuisinart Automatic Ice Cream Maker
