Movie and a Cocktail

movie-cocktail-datenight

It's that time again!  Does anyone else live for Fridays like I do?  I gotta tell you I couldn't have planned this series at a better time.  As much as I miss doing my cocktail photography for my Friday posts, there is no way I'd be able to do any taste testing right now.  Looking forward to another doctors appointment today to knock this mess out of me.  In the meantime, I'm daydreaming of lots of fun cocktails to roll out in March.  I've never seen this movie but it's definitely on my list to watch.  As a new Netflix customer, I'm doing some damage in the world of cinema.  Thoughts, feedback on this flick?  I always love a good classic.

Enjoy your weekend!

Movie and a Cocktail

This week threw me for a doozy and I am so, so happy the weekend is here.  Today's post was inspired by Fat Tuesdays arrival next week.  Unfortunately, I'll have to take a rain check on this hurricane cocktail because I'm battling a little head cold.  Blah!  Our weekend is filled with kiddie birthday parties and a date night on Saturday. Hoping to be on the mend by then!  As much as I "dream" of Sunday being filled with rest and relaxation, it will most likely be filled with practicing addition and subtraction with Luke.  Have you ever tried to teach a six year old math?  Not easy my friends.  Luckily, counting Legos seems to working.

Cheers to the weekend!  Hope yours is fabulous.

Movie and a Cocktail

I'm changing up the "Weekend Cheers" for the month of February.  I hope y'all don't mind! For the "month of love," I thought it would be fun to feature a movie/cocktail pairing each Friday to encourage a homemade date night type of thing.  I hate to admit it but I'm quite the homebody, especially in the winter.  I tend to hibernate.  We southern girls don't take well to cold temperatures.

To kick off the month, I'm suggesting one of my all time favorite movies, "Walk the Line." In case you don't know, I love Johnny Cash... a lot.  He gets me through the witching hour.  He also happened to love Jack Daniels.  So raise your glasses to the man in black and the lovely June Carter.  They were quite a pair those two.

Happy weekending!

His & Hers Valentines Day Cocktails

I know it seems a bit early to be posting ideas for Valentines' Day but I just couldn't wait any longer to share these "His and Hers" cocktails with y'all.  After all, you can never start planning too early!  I knew I wanted to do something with cherries and this was the end result.  If Daniel and I are cocktailing at home, he tends to prefer bourbon while I stick to vodka.  So for the guys, I created a simple sparkling cherry bourbon cocktail and for the ladies, I mixed up a chocolate cherry martini that is divine!  Normally, I don't focus on coordinating our cocktails but I thought it might be a fun idea for Valentine's Day!  Here's what you'll need to surprise your loved one on the big day.  (More photos at the end of the post.)

Dirty Dancing 25th Anniversary

Today marks the 25th anniversary of one of my favorite movies, Dirty Dancing .  Growing up, my little sister and I would practice every dance move from the movie in the privacy of our own living room.  Anyone else want to confess to doing something similar?  And hello, Patrick Swayze?  That man had some serious dance moves. To celebrate this fabulous flick, I've paired it with nothing other than an ice cold watermelon margarita. So grab your favorite dance partner and enjoy the perfect summer date night!
