Meet me in the Garden

It's time to hang those beautiful, understated, elegant ferns!  The boys enjoyed their snack yesterday on the front porch while I admired these heat-loving beauties.  There's something about a Boston fern that just makes me want to lounge on the porch all afternoon.

For more fantastic fern care tips, Southern Living has you covered.

  1. Omogosh.......what perfect timing! I ordered some ferns (from Jr League) last month and they should be delivered this week....I am thrilled to read and possibly keep them alive for at least a lil while :)

  2. I am looking forward to hanging ferns on my porch too, but I need to wait a bit more before buying them. I am in Michigan and we were warned of snow last evening!

Did you ever finish decorating your front prch? My white wicker looks awful this year. I think it is time for new porch furniture ( all weather) although I was even considering buying a couple white rockers from Cracker Barrel for my porch. Thought it would be nice to read to my kids out there.

Thanks for suggesting Ni Hao Y'all- what a fun blog!

  4. Oh I love Boston ferns! But I decided to do something a little different this year and went with asparagus ferns to hang on the front porch and 2 huge mondo ferns for the containers on our back patio. Nothing signals the emergence of Southern Summer like beautiful hanging ferns!

  5. Hi, my name is Sarah, and I have a problem. The description of the fern sounds like a personal ad.

  7. i love when it's time to get new ferns. this was the first year we managed to keep one alive through the winter outside since it was such a mild winter. i love them b/c they remind me of new orleans.

  8. I have a big wide front porch and every year, I usually hang boston ferns from the top of my porch. Two years ago, though, I wound up with a birds nest in one of them!

You are reminding me to go buy some ferns, though. :)
