Current Makeup Favorites

Sometimes I get lost.  It usually happens in bookstores and makeup stores.  Does that ever happen to you?  I'm a total girly girl when it comes to makeup and love discovering new products but I have to keep my daily routine pretty simple.  I also religiously wash my face at night and most mornings.

I thought it might be fun for us to share some of our favorite's here on the blog so I'll start this off and you can share one, two or as many as you want in the comments section below!  Fun, right?  Like a mini makeup party.

Tarte Cheek Stain (color Tipsy):  This may be my favorite new find of 2011.  The color is so bright and glows on your checks.  It lasts a long time too!  The texture is different, kinda lipstick like, but it doesn't bother me one single bit.  Love it!

Smashbox Sheer Focus:  This tinted moisturizer does wonders evening out my skin and it takes seconds to apply.  I noticed that shortly after I began using this, I started getting compliments on my skin.    It's very lightweight and spreads evenly across the skin.

Clarisonic Mia:  This was a huge product in 2011 and I finally bit the bullet and bought one.  At first I was using it twice a day and that frequency was way to much for my sensitive skin.  My relationship with my Mia was a bit love/hate at first because it left my skin so soft but a bit dry.  I've found that an every other day scrub is great for me.

Too Faced Naked Eye Kit:  This kit has a lot of great colors and I use most all of them with the exception of the very dark black.  I just don't wear a smokey eye very often but it's there if I need it.  The thing I love about this kit is it comes with pretty little instruction cards for different looks and a little place to keep the eye brush.  I really like having all my shades all in one place cause it helps streamline my routine in the morning.

Erase Paste:  Where oh where has this product been all my life?  I am very much a night owl and a mom of two boys so my under eyes are often suffering.  This lightweight concealer not only conceals but brightens too.  I don't leave the house without this.  And you can see in my sidebar that I have it proudly displayed!

So there you have it.  Some of my favorite makeup pics that I began using in 2011.  Now it's your turn to share a product.

  1. I also got a Clarisonic Mia recently, and came to the same discoveries as you. Once a day is perfect for sensitive skin, and it really has cleared up my complexion. Even my pores are smaller.

I'll have to give the other beauty essentials a try!

  2. Ok, Amy...I'll confess...makeup is a closet obsession of mine!! I've got so many favorites, I'm not sure where to begin! Here's some off the top of my head:

I'm also a fan of tarte cheek stain, but "blushing bride" is my favorite shade. Love the sheer wash of color!

Another thing I just love to use on my cheeks is NARS multiples. I think I have collected about 10 different shades over the years. They are more creamy than the tarte (which I think is sort of a gel). Lots of shades to play with...I highly recommend going to Sephora and playing with some of the colors if you haven't tried them. They can also double as highlighters, bronzers, and even lipstick, depending on the shade. Have I raved enough??

My hands-down necessity is eyeliner. I'm a big fan of urban decay's 24/7 line, as well as clinique's quickliner (the clinique dark chocolate is my everyday go-to).

Speaking of urban decay, the eye primer potion is also a necessity for me if I'm wearing eyeshadow. Keeps it on forever, as well as minimizes the creases and lines that are becoming evident now that I'm in my (gulp) mid-40's.

    Other loves in my collection:

-MAC cosmetics for eyeshadows, brushes, and lipsticks
    -Smashbox lipgloss
-Avon Anew Clinical Eye Lift Pro
    -Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus
-Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation (great light moisturizer for day and night, especially if you have skin like mine that can't take heavy creams)

I could talk about this all day...but I guess I'll stop for now :)

  4. I JUST got a clarisonic mia too - literally on Friday. I am obsessed with it! My skin has never felt so soft after cleaning! I'm only doing mine at night and that seems to be a good routine for me.

  5. Great post! I too love the Tarte cheek stain! I find that it's a good base to dust dry blush on if you want a bolder look!

I have being hearing all kinds of great things about the Clarisonic Mia. I am dying to purchase one soon!

Thanks for the great product shout outs!

    Cheers,
    Christi

  7. Ditto on the Mia. I can only use it every other day, but it's the perfect exfoliator. Also currently loving:
    -erase paste
    -high beam
    -Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer
    -Urban Decay's naked palette
-Obsessed with Nars Orgasm (isn't everybody) and their Larger Than Life lip glosses
-Natura Bisse skincare. Just switched over from Bliss, and I'm not looking back. Worth every penny!

  8. I am a huge fan of bare minerals for foundation. It gives me the fuzzy glow that movie stars in the 40's and 50's had. Cheek stain is the way to go. I've been using the same stila color push up for 4 years. I lovingly refer to it as my cheek deoderant. That's what it looks like!
