Meet Me in the garden

How does your garden grow?  Many of you know this is my first season with a vegetable garden and I'm excited to say it's been a success!  It's been quite a learning curve but it's been so fun for the kids and I this summer.

I'm using the All New Square Foot Gardening method and couldn't be happier with the results.  It's a really amazing technique that will work anywhere.  This being my first season, I didn't plant in every square foot because I was scared of biting off more than I could chew...literally!

We did plant a variety of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, carrots and herbs.  I even threw in a few flowers for visual interest.  In the fall I hope to do some landscaping around the actual beds and of course am finding lots of inspiration on Pinterest.  Feel free to follow my "Garden Frolic" board if you have a green thumb too.

Any tips or gardening advice is welcomed and much appreciated! I've got a long way to go.  Here's some more photos from the garden.

  1. I really want to have a garden myself- but I'll probably start with just herbs. Unfortunately I have the apartment life, so no yard, but maybe I can start something on the balcony. All of your stuff looks delicious!

  2. Great job!! My aunt recently visited an Amish farm in Kentucky and took a photo of their gardens and noted that they plant marigolds at the border to keep away pests (not sure which exactly). And I've read that planting basil next to tomatoes will make the tomatoes sweeter. Jealous of your green thumb!

  6. I'm so jealous, I've always wanted to start my own garden. Right now the closest thing I have is two pots on my deck with strawberry plants!
