Meet me in the Garden: Rose Care

Hello friends! Hope your weekend was lovely.  I spent some downtime with the family and feel ready to take on the new month.

March is always a transitional and busy time in the garden.  There's still a slight chance for a cold spell so I tend to stay conservative with plantings.  I did manage to get out and trim back my roses though.  I have knockout roses and some old climbing roses that were here when we bought the house.  I also planted two Lady Banks rose bushes last fall and I can't wait to see what they produce!

For more helpful tips, here's a link on pruning roses by Better Homes and Gardens.  Enjoy the day!

  4. I think I must do this tomorrow (if the wind is not blowing me to and fro) I have some almost 50 year old climbers that have been neglected for way to many years that I need to prune and retrain.

  5. I love roses and am so envious of the ones in your garden. Maybe someday I won't be so intimidated and will plant some. Until then I'll enjoy them at the botanic gardens

  6. @Poptartyogini I was intimidated by roses to but really they're so hardy that they are a great plant to start with. You could also try one in a container!

  7. We have some lovely little tulips popping up all over our flower bed in the front yard. It gets me so excited for spring, I just hope it doesn't snow again over here! My husband also planted a half dead little rose bush today (he's more of the green thumb in the family). Hopefully it thrives.
