Today, the boys begin morning preschool and although my little one is only attending two days a week, people keep asking me, "What are you going to DO with all that time?"
Must I answer that question? Really?
No, but I'll entertain it. Here's a list of things I'd like to do with all this found time.
- Grocery Shop alone and avoid spending an additional five dollars on Matchbox Cars that the marketing people so strategically display.
- Clean my house without two busy boys trailing behind me making an even bigger mess.
- Cook or prep a meal without screaming "Don't touch the stove!"
- Find the bottom of my desk and file some papers without having to referee two rowdy boys
- Work in the yard without being hit in the head with a T-Ball
- Take a shower without an audience or awkward questions about my body.
- Donate some toys from our overflowing toy box without my four year old saying, "But mommy, I love that toy. It's special to me! You can't take it to Goodwill." Major guilt.
- Enjoy a meal with a friend, with adult conversation and without having to profusely apologize and excessively tip the waitress for the mess left by my independent, self-feeding baby.
- Unload the dishwasher without looking up to find my baby has mastered the art of climbing and is dancing on top of the coffee table.
- Actually walk into the bank rather than annoying the woman in the drive-thru with my numerous transactions. Does she really want me to come inside with my two screaming kids?
So, there you have it. Just a few ideas for how I will occupy my free time sans children.
Then again, maybe I'll just get a mani-pedi and grab some bonbons. That sounds like a lot more fun.
Loved reading this post. It's like looking back at my life ~11 years ago when my kids were the same age yours are now. Of course I miss those ages sometimes now. :)
ReplyDeleteI hear you loud and clear! I'm about to take a full week off of work just for me and my mind is racing with all that I can accomplish! Like go watch the SJP movie, "I Don't Know How She Does It?" - ha ha! ENJOY!!! xo (now cue George Michael's FREEDOM)
ReplyDeletehahah! This made me laugh out load. My favorite "take a shower without an audience..etc". You deserve some down time , if you can call it that! Enjoy. xo
ReplyDeleteI love it! I am a SAHM to a 2 year old boy, and people ask all the time what I do all day....seriously??? I can totally relate to this post :)
ReplyDeleteAhahaha!! That line about taking a shower without awkward body questions still had me laughing :) Love it!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe people still ask that question. The work SAHM's do is equivalent to 2 full-time jobs. I'm amazed you're still functioning, frankly.
Whatever free moment you do get Miss Amy, i hope you enjoy yourself & relax! Goodness knows you've earned it ;)
Haha...glad you will be getting some "leisurely" time ;-) I left you a blog award, so check out my post today :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for your sweet comments. Ironically, after my one morning of downtime, my four year old came home with a virus and has been home sick since.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to preschool! :)
