Wine Country: Dahlonega, Georgia

I know what you're thinking.  Georgia?  Wine Country?

I thought the same thing up until this past weekend, when my husband and I ventured up to Georgia's wine country with some friends for some much needed R &R.  After a night of great food and gathering around a chiminea with wonderful mountain views here, we headed over to Black Stock Vineyards and Winery in Dahlonega for an afternoon tasting.

I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with not only Black Stock's wines but the knowledge and education of owner David Harris, who we had the opportunity to chat with for a while.  We talked a lot about the climate of north Georgia and more specifically the sweet spot that Dahlonega sits in for housing several successful vineyards and wineries.  Black Stock wines have received over 75 awards and after having the chance to enjoy a few of them, I could totally see why!

I also discovered that the Georgia Fine Wine Festival will take place at Black Stock on June 4th and 5th where you can experience over 60 Georgia wines, live music and food from local restaurants.

Have you visited Georgia's wine country?
