Tie One On

buy it here
First, let me say thank you for your encouragement yesterday.  I'm comforted in knowing I'm not the only one who has a hard time watching the little ones grow so fast.  Now, lets talk about fashion because it's one of my happy places.

These tie blouses have been trending every few years since the seventies! I'm personally a huge fan and still have some in my closet from my days as a career woman.  I think they look really cute dressed up or down and give a nice feminine touch to an otherwise basic structured shirt.

What's your thought on the style?  Love it or leave it?

Comfort Zone

via

My friends, can I talk about the irony or motherhood for just a moment?

We love our children so much and want nothing more than for them to feel completely loved and grow up to be confident, compassionate and thriving adults.  But I've come to a bump in my motherhood journey where I'm struggling with keeping my kids in their comfort zones versus pushing them a bit outside of it in hopes to build their confidence and allow them to grow even more.

Even though my little ones are still very young and I know this is only the tip of the iceberg of "letting go," it's tearing me up a bit inside.  Between Luke starting his last year of preschool before kindergarten, Jett attending his first year of preschool and organized sports (whoa, I had no idea how competitive T-Ball could be), I feel like I just wanna grab my little sweethearts, bring them back to the nest and never, ever let them go.

But I know I can't.

As much as I worry about them being outside of their comfort zone, I remind myself how resilient children are and how absolutely curious they are about life in general.  I wonder if maybe it's just me that's out of my comfort zone.  How quickly they grow and how quickly we, as mothers, must allow them to fly.

What Will I Do?

via

Today, the boys begin morning preschool and although my little one is only attending two days a week, people keep asking me, "What are you going to DO with all that time?"

Must I answer that question?  Really?

No, but I'll entertain it.  Here's a list of things I'd like to do with all this found time.

  • Grocery Shop alone and avoid spending an additional five dollars on Matchbox Cars that the marketing people so strategically display.
  • Clean my house without two busy boys trailing behind me making an even bigger mess.
  • Cook or prep a meal without screaming "Don't touch the stove!"
  • Find the bottom of my desk and file some papers without having to referee two rowdy boys
  • Work in the yard without being hit in the head with a T-Ball
  • Take a shower without an audience or awkward questions about my body.
  • Donate some toys from our overflowing toy box without my four year old saying, "But mommy, I love that toy.  It's special to me! You can't take it to Goodwill."  Major guilt.
  • Enjoy a meal with a friend, with adult conversation and without having to profusely apologize and excessively tip the waitress for the mess left by my independent, self-feeding baby.
  • Unload the dishwasher without looking up to find my baby has mastered the art of climbing and is dancing on top of the coffee table.
  • Actually walk into the bank rather than annoying the woman in the drive-thru with my numerous transactions.  Does she really want me to come inside with my two screaming kids?
So, there you have it.  Just a few ideas for how I will occupy my free time sans children.

Then again, maybe I'll just get a mani-pedi and grab some bonbons.  That sounds like a lot more fun.

Fashion Pick-Me-Up

Hello fellow peaches.  How was your weekend?

I had the chance to do some very limited shopping this weekend and had one of those days when you have a hard time finding anything. Do you ever have those days?

Well, this is what I do when I come home empty handed from a long day of shopping.  I peruse images from the runway. I love it.  It makes me happy.

These lovelies are from Resort 2012 collections.  I thought they would be a great way to start the week.

Aren't they lovely?

Return of the Cocktail Hour

My friends, I'm gonna talk about something that is near and dear to me and that is cocktail hour.  I'm not talking about having a drink, I'm referring to the classic, and oh so fabulous, cocktail hour.

A few years ago I read this, saved the article for future reference and here we are today.

What sparked me to pull this article out of my memory bank you ask?  Well, it's the launch of a great new website or "Magalog" called Society Social.  What is a "Magalog" you ask?  Think of it as an online magazine that functions as a catalog, allowing you to shop 'til you drop.  (Or until your laptop battery dies.)

Now that we have all that clear, let me show you what has me daydreaming of the cocktail hours of yesteryear.

These beauties are now for sale (and affordable) via Society Social....love, love, love to the nth degree. I need a bar cart in my life.

 As well as this one...

And this fun (and customizable) one...

And here's a few more random bar cart images that I just couldn't resist sharing with ya'll.

And if you're not a huge fan of an hour devoted to devilish libations, a bar cart serves as a glamorous backdrop to tea and lemonade as well.

Of course, my cocktail hour wouldn't be complete without this playing in the background.

Vintage Glam

I know fall is just around the corner and many of us are anxious for cooler temps.  However, after seeing these images of Round Hill Resort, I'm not ready to pack up my swimsuit just yet.

How are you spending the last few weeks of summer?

Eat. Love. Play.

As of today, school is officially back in session here in GA and I'm left wondering, "What did we DO all summer?"  Of course, my kids watched too much TV and we indulged in more than one PJ day but that didn't stop us from doing some of very favorite things together.

Eat.

Love.

Play.

My little guys have one week left until preschool begins and I'm gonna savor every moment with them. Tomorrow, we're headed here again by special request.  Twist my arm.

Precious Visits

Hi there friends! I'm writing this post at the stroke of midnight with the most tired eyes so forgive me if it's short and sweet.

I have been so busy that I've barely had time to breathe much less blog.  It's been a good kinda busy though.  I've been spending every moment with my sister and niece who flew into Atlanta on Saturday and we've been doing a whirlwind of family events to show off her pretty little face.

Coincidentally, my best friend from high school is also in town with her family which is always a treat. Since she moved Mexico several years ago, my visits with her are few but precious.  It's so true that great friends don't skip a beat despite the distance.  Here's all our kids together, along with two of my nieces.  Yes, we had NINE children under one roof on Monday.  (Four are hers, two mine, two my older sisters and one my younger sisters.  The infants were not in this photo.)  They are all such great kids!

Here's Mel and I with her fourth and newest addition.  She's one of those moms who makes motherhood look easy!

I hope ya'll are enjoying your week.  I can't believe school is beginning for so many of you and that summer break is coming to an end.

Savor those moments and may the lazy days of summer linger just a bit longer!
